The material behind the protection.
Both families are built from high-strength, high-modulus UHMWPE fiber pre-impregnated in a resin matrix and cross-plied in a 0°/90° orientation. All material is supplied as continuous roll goods.
Selection
Areal density is the primary selection parameter. The lighter grades give finer control over panel build-up and drape; the heavier grades reduce the number of plies required for a given panel weight and shorten assembly time.
Soft armor — KNS series
UHMWPE Soft Armor UD
Cross-plied unidirectional UHMWPE, supplied as continuous roll material for flexible ballistic panels.
Description
KNS soft armor UD is built from high-strength, high-modulus UHMWPE fiber pre-impregnated in a resin matrix and cross-plied in a 0°/90° orientation. The material is supplied as a continuous white sheet on rolls and is intended for assembly into flexible protective panels.
Areal density is the primary selection parameter. The 80 g/m² grades give finer control over panel build-up and drape. The 160 g/m² grades reduce the number of plies required for a given panel weight and shorten assembly time.
Typical applications
- Tactical, concealable and overt vest panels
- Fragmentation and shrapnel protection
- EOD suits, bomb blankets
- Ballistic backpacks, briefcases and bag inserts
- Stab and spike resistant vests

| Model | Areal density (g/m²) | Width (cm) | Length (m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| KNS-2111 | 80 ± 5 | ≥ 160 | ≥ 300 |
| KNS-4111 | 80 ± 5 | ≥ 160 | ≥ 300 |

| KNS-4121 | 160 ± 7 | ≥ 160 | ≥ 100 |
Areal density in g/m². Stated width and length are minimum supply values. Custom widths and lengths are available upon request. Ballistic protection level and the corresponding number of layers are confirmed during technical support.
Hard armor — KNH series
UHMWPE Hard Armor UD
High-modulus cross-plied UHMWPE for consolidation into rigid plates and structural armor.
Description
KNH hard armor UD is a pre-consolidated roll product made from unidirectional high-strength, high-modulus UHMWPE fiber pre-impregnated in a resin matrix and cross-plied in a 0°/90° orientation. It is designed for consolidation under heat and pressure into hard armor products.
Recommended consolidation parameters are application-dependent. Process guidance, layup architecture and acceptance criteria are provided by KN technical support.
Typical applications
- Chest and side plates
- Stand-alone and in-conjunction-with hard plates
- Ceramic-faced composite plate backings
- Ballistic shields, helmets and rigid panels
- Vehicle and structural armor, spall liners

Supply, handling and quality
The following applies to both product families.
- Roll marking
- Product code printed in black ink on the warp (0°) side along the length of the roll, together with the roll number for full traceability.
- Quality and traceability
- Every roll is traceable to its production lot and to the fiber and resin batches used. A Certificate of Conformity stating lot number, areal density and acceptance-test results is supplied with each shipment.
- Packaging
- Rolls are wound on 75 mm cores, wrapped in protective film and shipped in individual containers. Each roll is labelled with product code, lot number, batch number, roll number, net and gross length.
- Storage
- Store in the original sealed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and UV exposure.
- Handling
- Handle with clean gloves. Avoid folding, creasing or contamination with oils and solvents. Allow sealed rolls to acclimatise before opening.
